Relative minors (the inner ring)

Concept

Inside each major key on the circle sits its relative minor — three semitones below (or the 6th of the scale). So C's relative minor is Am, G's is Em, D's is Bm. Songs slide between a major key and its relative minor constantly — they share the same chord family.
