I, V, vi, and IV — in some order — make up an astonishing percentage of pop songs. The four orderings each have a different feel: I-V-vi-IV (anthemic), vi-IV-I-V (yearning), I-vi-IV-V (50s), IV-I-V-vi (folk). Learn all four rotations.
