The 'character note' of each mode

Concept

Each mode has one note that defines its color — the 'character note.' Dorian: the major 6th over a minor chord. Phrygian: the b2. Lydian: the #4. Mixolydian: the b7. Aim for these notes when you want the mode to actually sound modal (and not just like a misplaced major scale).
