Parent-scale vs modal-tonic thinking

Concept

Two ways to play modes. Parent-scale: play C major over an Am vamp — you're 'in' Aeolian by default. Modal-tonic: think 'I'm playing A natural minor as its own scale, with A as home.' The parent-scale view is easier; the modal-tonic view sounds more committed.
